About Dawn
Born and raised a Jersey girl, Dawn grew up in the shadow of ‘the city’ (NYC) and was never far from the bright lights of Broadway. It was Dawn’s many trips to the theatre district that sparked her love of acting and entertaining. Playing and singing music since the fourth grade, Dawn participated in band and choir through her high school years, including a role as Cousin Hebe in Gilbert & Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore, but couldn’t seem to work up the courage to act.
After 23 years in corporate jobs, making a living like everyone else, Dawn announced to the world she would be an actor and she hasn't looked back since!
Realizing time wasn’t on her side to make her dreams come true, she finally made the leap into community theatre in Charlotte, NC. Dawn started small, playing Mr. Potter’s Secretary in “It’s a Wonderful Life”, leading to one of her favorite roles playing Mollie Ralston in Agatha Christie’s, “The Mousetrap”. Wanting more, Dawn joined a local acting networking group, First Friday of the Month Club for Working Actors of Charlotte. This led to roles in some ‘Second City TV’-like sketches with Manic Television Workshop, aired on local cable television, as well as hosting an infomercial and a local television commercial. In NC, Dawn studied voiceover with Wayne Powers, the longtime voice of “if it tastes like Smuckers, it has to be good.” and acting with Jordan Beswick, CSA.
Upon moving to FL, Dawn immediately became involved with the FABActor group where she began networking with her new ‘tribe’. Seemingly coming full circle, Dawn’s first Florida stage role was as part of the cast of Gilbert & Sullivan’s ‘The Mikado’. Dawn has had roles in several student films through Full Sail Film School and UCF and participated as a volunteer for Orlando’s 48-hour Film Project. Most intriguing is Dawn being cast to perform the voice of a female pirate, Ariana in The Vat, an online comic by darkbrain.com. Since coming to FL, Dawn has studied with Ken and Valerie Grant of KVG Acting Studios and most currently with Yvonne Suhor and Lauren O'Quinn through Arts-Sake Acting Studio.
Dawn enjoys many genres of music; favorites being Fleetwood Mac, Rolling Stones, Bob Seger Mary J. Blige, Three Days Grace. Best-loved movies include Wizard of Oz and The Big Chill. Reading is another passion, and when not reading the local newspaper or acting books, she’s reading tomes with metaphysical, spiritual, or psychological themes…working, as we all are, toward inner peace and enlightenment living our true destiny.
Dawn lives in Orlando, appreciating the view of Lake Eola and the love and support of her family and friends.
